Two or Four?

Car seats, that is...

This post is a poll for people with more than one car seat-riding child in the family. We have been "thrifty" and did not want to purchase two sets of car seats, one for each car. Currently, our only two seats ride in the family wag. Due to inconvenience issues, I think we might have to break down and buy another set for Matt's jeep, with daycare drop off/pick up being the biggest reason.

So what system works for you? Do you have each car outfitted for wee passengers? Any recommendations?

We have a car seat for each car and will be doing that with this baby as well. It works for us b/c of daycare drop off/pick up. I would hate to have to lug those in and out everytime! Plus, I don't trust myself to get them in there tight enough every time we would have to move them. Hope that helps!

Are schedules are so crazy and frankly we are so lazy--we bought two sets right from the start. We are lucky Alex is still young enough that we only need one carrier (Graco snugride) that we click into the bases in each car. For Luc we just bought safe (but relatively inexpensive) Graco step up seats. Kudo's to you for toughing it out this long!! We love our Graco seats.

Do you use USAA for your auto insurance? They used to reimburse up to $50 per child for a car or booster seat. That is what we did for J&N. Give them a call.

We had four bases when the boys were in rear-facing seats. Since they moved to front-facing seats we only have two seats. We have been thrifty as you have been. It is a pain but the expense is enough for us to work through it. Good luck!!

We still have two and move them back and forth. But I see how the daycare drop off/pick up would probably get us to breakdown and get two more. Next question is which ones will you get??

We bought less expensive ones for Ryan's truck since he picks them up less often, but we definitely have two sets and Ryan's parents have a set too!

Holy smokes! How have you managed this long with only two seats? I realize I'm several weeks late in posting my comment; I'm behind on everything all the time... We picked up two extra Roundabouts at a neighborhood garage sale and life was so much easier once we had seats in each car. I'd send you ours if we were done with them, but Mad will be in the Roundabouts for awhile still.

Thanks so much for the input!! We broke down and bought two new convertible carseats last week. I think it might help to simplify things a bit...we'll see!
