Uncle Billy meets the twins!!

Billy came to visit over the weekend. He met his niece and nephew for the first time and set his personal record for the 1/2 marathon in OKC. Matt, the babies, and I went to cheer him on. We had a wonderful relaxing time being together and the twins loved meeting their uncle.

Sadly, Matt and Billy's grandmother is not doing well and is in the hospital in Austin. Bill and Debbie came up to spend the weekend with us as well, but had to quickly leave to be with Granny/Oma. We lift Granny and the fam up in thoughts and prayers and pray that God's will be done. We love you Granny and hope that you are able to be in comfort and peace!

Thanks for letting me play with your Pentax digital SLR Bill...the photos are great!!

I only went to one blog...I promise. ;)

Hello, my name is Carrie and I am addicted to blogging. After encouragement from my dear friend Amanda, my addiction began a few weeks ago. She supplied me with my first few sites, then it grew and now I cannot get onto the computer without checking out at least ten sites. I don't even know the people...I feel as though I am prying into their lives, but it is sooooo sneakily vixen. Okay, not really, but it makes me feel cool to think that it is. ha.

So I would like to be enabled. Is there anyone out there who can help me spruce up our blog? I am not thrilled with the layout...it is so blah. Btw, I am not a techy-nerd so I require baby steps. Please respond or email me at carriejank@hotmail.com.

Feeling a little better....

Here's a few pics from our day on house arrest. Mommy found batteries so we got to play with a new Leapfrog music toy....really cool. We want to be musicians like our daddy!

Abigail's New Noshers

Abigail finally moved her tongue out of the way of the camera lens to capture her new pearly whites. Aren't they beautiful???

here we go again....

Round #3 of antibiotics for G for another (or probably the same one that won't go away) ear infection. He has been pathetically sick. Plus couple that with a cold with watery eyes, sneezing, and bad cough (which I hope is not going into his chest). All this plus..... Ab started with another fever and pulling on her ears Fri afternoon!

Today I am home all day with them both~ HOUSE ARREST!!!! We'll see how the phlegm-coughing, eyes-watering, ear-pulling, nose-dripping day unfolds.

ARGH!!!!

On a positive note....they slept 11 1/2 hours last night straight!! Woo hoo! The only thing different we did was apply mentholateum to their feet and cover with socks. Could Vicks be the new miracle potion for sleeping????

Seven Months Two Weeks

This is one of those times where I get overwhelmed as I haven't blogged in nearly two weeks and sooooo much has happened!
The babies recovered from their ear infections. During that same time, Matt had to go out of town for business. I have finally reached the point in twin motherhood to know that I do not have to prove anything to anyone...including myself!! So Deb and Bill came up to help out (bless their gracious souls!) and also babysit Caine since our nanny was still out and we were doing the "baby shuffle". It all turned out wonderfully and the babies loved having lots of attention. Also, they planted flowers in our front flowerbeds, cleaned our house, and did ump-teen loads of laundry in addition to feeding, loving, and playing with the babies nonstop!!!!

George has gotten remarkably stronger in the past few weeks---I know I say that a bunch, but it is great to see how much he progresses from week to week. Currently, he is sitting up independently for ab 20 seconds or more at a time, bearing weight on his legs for increasing time, and tolerating more tummy time. Our PT has been really impressed with his gains! I cannot say enough pros about the importance of early intervention and pediatric physical therapy! He is eating like a champion....peas, tofu, bananas, zucchini, apples....and Abs is not far behind! He loves to play peek-a-boo and yesterday, "helped" Abigail play by pulling the blanket off her head. He loves to shreek and scream and growl! He is still our cuddlebug and loves to be loved!!

Abigail continues to be a mover and a shaker! She is SOOOOO close to crawling. She has mastered crawfishing backwards and rolling to get what she wants---we have to keep a close eye on her as she can get into mischief already! The other day she opened the wipe container that was on the floor and later pulled the blanket off the couch on top of herself. She loves to "talk" and play and explore her surroundings. She is a fabulous eater and has a smile to melt your heart. There is nothing more precious than hearing her coo and talk from her crib in the morning, and be greeted by her pushed up on her arms with a gorgeous smile!!

So then reality strikes again, and we are heading back in to the doc this morning as George is sick again!!!!! You would think that breastfed babies are supposed to be healthy and not get sick as often. Very frustrating. Poor babies are genetically predisposed to ear infections as Matt had 4 sets of tubes as a kid and still has bad ears. We do not want to do another round of antibiotics so we'll see what other options we have....

The Verdict...

George and Abigail both have ear infections. Round Two of antibiotics for George (only one ear though) and Round One for Abs.

Good news is both of their weights are up: George officially weighs 16 lbs. 4 oz. and Abigail weighs 13 lbs. 14 oz. Bad news is they are still on the pee-wee end of the scale, so we get to keep trying to beef them up! TTFN!

Abs the Sickly One

On my lap sits the Drama Princess (yeah, we're not supposed to label our kids, but who doesn't??) while her brother the Sleepmaster snoozes in his crib. She is doc bound today after two days with 101.7+ temps, mainly hovering 102.4. Poor baby doesn't feel good at all. In her defense, she has maintained a fairly good temprament despite having the booger sucker stuffed up her nose every hour and the friendly "tail-mometer" inserted several times per day, neither of which she adores. Don't think it's teething as the eyes are runny, nose is snotty, sleep is non-existent, cough is frequent, and she has that persistant "Mommy, I feel like crap" whiny cry. Sweet little sickly thing.

On a funny-to-me-probably-not-to-anyone-else note, I finished reading Twinspirations last night (thanks SN) and was reminded by the author of the importance of documenting the funny little things that happen. Yesterday morning I took Abigail and George into our bed to snuggle with Daddy, and Abigail promptly rolled over and began trying to pick up the pinecones that are printed on our flannel sheets. Hilarious! The look on her face was one of determination and confusion!

snippits...

Note to self:
Do not wake a sleeping baby to give her a bath in a new way. Big mistake. Abigail did not like using the Bumbo in the big bathtub when she was dead-to-the-world asleep. George loved it though...hopefully Abigail will come around.

On a positive note, I kept all three babies yesterday and we went for a calming walk (for the babies not me!). Abs was strapped to my front in the Bjorn and Geo and Caine were hanging out in the twin stroller. It was great and a heck of a workout!!!! Beautiful spring day with temps in the 80s and gorgeous flowers along the route. We walked for 45 minutes then hung out on our front porch while Caine and George finished their naps. I even impressed myself that it was a success. Yay for spring!

George has learned peek-a-boo where we throw the towel over his face and say "Where's George?". He pulls the towel away revealing a big smile! Too cute! Amazing how the most simplistic things give him and us great amounts of joy!

Seven Months Old tomorrow!

A few pics from life this week...

p.s. Happy Bday Coll! ;)

Crazy Janks, ever growing and changing

It has been a while since we posted, mostly due to the chaos of life. Since we last wrote, George has chunked up to a mighty 16 1/2 pounds while Abigail is going strong at 14 pounds. They are eating us out of house and home...cuisine includes apples, tofu, and bananas now! They are doing really well taking bottles again, even taking breastmilk bottles from our babysitter a few weeks ago. Abigail and George have learned to growl, and George gets really mad when we don't feed him quickly! Abigail is getting ready to crawl...she gets up on all fours and makes a noise that sounds like she is "revving her engine". George is getting really strong; he is able to support himself on his legs for several minutes now and yesterday, held onto the side of the exersaucer (with min assist) "talking" to Abs.

Easter was bittersweet this year. We spent the holiday with our adopted family, the Lees, and said goodbye as they moved to Reston, VA (suburb of D.C.). It was wonderful to have one last "Leekowski" meal and spend good quality time with them. George and Abigail will definitely miss Reba-Grace, Aunt Nay Nay and Uncle Robert! We wish them luck and happiness as they build their new life in Virginia. We will look forward to seeing them hopefully in September when they meet us in North Carolina for some paddling and hiking.

Easter Sunday was quiet....rejoicing in the morning at church and enjoying the beautiful weather in the afternoon at home. Farmer Matt began his garden while the babies and I watched him dig. Hopefully we will all enjoy fresh tomatoes, garlic, green beans, and squash this summer!

The last several weeks have been nuts around here. Here is a smattering of what's been going on:
George had a double ear infection and first round of antibiotics
Abigail now has two teeth (first one on Easter Sunday and the second this past Sunday)
Matt began taking violin lessons (a longtime dream)
Our nanny began her cancer treatment which led to the "baby shuffle" where Misty and I take turns watching babies so each can work...insanity! Our nanny will hopefully be back in a few weeks and we appreciate her now more than ever!
Matt got strep throat and thankfully his mom was here to help with the babies.
The Lees got a job in Reston, sold their house, and moved away in approx. two weeks--an emotional roller coaster for us all.
I'm sure I have forgotten something...my brain is mush these days. I'm doing good to remember who I am...
