It has been a while since we posted, mostly due to the chaos of life. Since we last wrote, George has chunked up to a mighty 16 1/2 pounds while Abigail is going strong at 14 pounds. They are eating us out of house and home...cuisine includes apples, tofu, and bananas now! They are doing really well taking bottles again, even taking breastmilk bottles from our babysitter a few weeks ago. Abigail and George have learned to growl, and George gets really mad when we don't feed him quickly! Abigail is getting ready to crawl...she gets up on all fours and makes a noise that sounds like she is "revving her engine". George is getting really strong; he is able to support himself on his legs for several minutes now and yesterday, held onto the side of the exersaucer (with min assist) "talking" to Abs.
Easter was bittersweet this year. We spent the holiday with our adopted family, the Lees, and said goodbye as they moved to Reston, VA (suburb of D.C.). It was wonderful to have one last "Leekowski" meal and spend good quality time with them. George and Abigail will definitely miss Reba-Grace, Aunt Nay Nay and Uncle Robert! We wish them luck and happiness as they build their new life in Virginia. We will look forward to seeing them hopefully in September when they meet us in North Carolina for some paddling and hiking.
Easter Sunday was quiet....rejoicing in the morning at church and enjoying the beautiful weather in the afternoon at home. Farmer Matt began his garden while the babies and I watched him dig. Hopefully we will all enjoy fresh tomatoes, garlic, green beans, and squash this summer!
The last several weeks have been nuts around here. Here is a smattering of what's been going on:
George had a double ear infection and first round of antibiotics
Abigail now has two teeth (first one on Easter Sunday and the second this past Sunday)
Matt began taking violin lessons (a longtime dream)
Our nanny began her cancer treatment which led to the "baby shuffle" where Misty and I take turns watching babies so each can work...insanity! Our nanny will hopefully be back in a few weeks and we appreciate her now more than ever!
Matt got strep throat and thankfully his mom was here to help with the babies.
The Lees got a job in Reston, sold their house, and moved away in approx. two weeks--an emotional roller coaster for us all.
I'm sure I have forgotten something...my brain is mush these days. I'm doing good to remember who I am...
